We first fell in love with Julie Rofman and her amazing hand-beaded bracelets when we spotted her Cape Cuff on the arm of Grammy award-winning jazz musician Esperanza Spaulding. Since then, quite simply, we’ve been obsessed.

Inspired by her background as a painter and sculptor, Julie Rofman brings her love of color, pattern, and bohemian style to her jewelry line. She combines the traditional art of bead looming with current color combinations and geometric patterns reminiscent of Bauhaus designs. A mixture of matte, translucent, opaque, and shiny glass beads, uniform in size, are handwoven together on a small bead loom to create a striking color-field of sparkle. These special glass beads are solely created in Japan by a family-run company.
Julie’s love of travel inspires each bracelet and she pays homage in her designs to places she hopes to visit or places she’s loved. The carnival in Rio, the colorful architecture of Cuba, the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands, the nightlife of Ibiza, and the markets of Morocco have all contributed to the rich variety of colors and patterns found in her work.
As New York Magazine’s fashion blog The Cut writes, “The wristwear comes in various color combinations, so it works well if your look is understated and dark or neon and sparkly. The bright bracelets create a street-style-ready piled-on look, but are less cumbersome than clunky plastic or resin cuffs.”
Worn alone for simplicity or paired together with other favorite bracelets for dramatic effect, Julie Rofman jewelry is the perfect addition to every occasion, from a beachside afternoon to a night out with friends.
